Chyna’s early life and her time in WWE

Chyna was born in Rochester, New York, on December 27, 1969, and later moved to New York City. Her father, Joseph R. Laurer Sr., was a Vietnam War veteran of French and Irish descent, and her mother, Janice (née Steinmetz), is of Welsh descent. Laurer described her childhood as “rough”, further noting that she was raised in a lower-middle-class environment. As a child growing up on Buffalo’s East Side (which she later referred to as a ” ghetto”), Laurer initially did not engage in sports because she feared it might hurt her brother, who played football for his high school. She began participating in backyard wrestling at 13 after watching her brother train with his friends; because of this interest, she bought wrestling videotapes from TV promotions such as the American Wrestling Association (AWA) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). She dropped out of the ninth grade when she began attending Martin Luther King Jr. High School for the Visual and Performing Arts where she studied drama instead.[8][11]

Chyna’s relationships with fellow wrestlers

Chyna was in relationships with fellow wrestlers Eddie Guerrero, Sean Waltman and Triple H. Chyna and Guerrero were together from 1997 to 2000. They were on-screen romantically as well, with Guerrero proposing to her on an episode of Raw in 1999. Waltman and Chyna began dating in 1996 and had an on-again, off-again relationship for years. The couple got engaged in 2013 but broke up later that year. Triple H and Chyna began dating in 2000 and ended their relationship in 2001.

Chyna’s personal life and her struggles

Chyna’s personal life was often tumultuous and she struggled with addiction and mental health issues. She appeared in Playboy magazine twice, both times with different covers. In 2000, she released a autobiography entitled If They Only Knew.

The world of professional wrestling was left reeling following the untimely death of Chyna, one of its most popular and controversial stars.

Chyna, whose real name was Joanie Laurer, was found dead in her apartment on Wednesday, April 20. She was 45 years old.

Chyna’s death is being treated as a possible overdose, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. An autopsy is pending.

Chyna was a trailblazer in the wrestling world, becoming the first woman to compete in the Royal Rumble and King of the Ring tournaments. She also held the Intercontinental Championship at one point in her career.
