As always, WWE Hell in a Cell is sure to be a night full of shocking moments and unforgettable action. Here are five forgotten moments from previous Hell in a Cell pay-per-views that you may not remember.
1. The first ever Hell in a Cell match: The Undertaker vs Mankind (1998)
The first ever Hell in a Cell match took place at WWE King of the Ring 1998, with The Undertaker taking on Mankind. The match was incredibly brutal, with both men taking some truly hardcore bumps. In the end, it was The Undertaker who emerged victorious, but the real winner was the fans, who were treated to one of the most hardcore matches in WWE history.
2. Big Show vs Brock Lesnar (2002)
At WWE Unforgiven 2002, Brock Lesnar took on Big Show in a Hell in a Cell match for the WWE Undisputed Championship. Lesnar had only been in WWE for a matter of months at this point, but he was already being groomed as the company’s next big star. The match itself was fairly short, but it was incredibly physical, with both men battering each other around the inside of the cell. In the end, it was Lesnar who walked out as champion, cementing himself as one of WWE’s top stars.
3. Shane McMahon vs Kurt Angle (2001)
At WrestleMania 17, Kurt Angle defeated Shane McMahon to win the WWF Hardcore Championship. McMahon then invoked his rematch clause for one final showdown at Backlash 2001, which took place inside Hell in a Cell. This was an incredibly physical affair, with both men taking some huge bumps throughout the course of the match. In the end though it was Angle who emerged victorious once again, retaining his Hardcore title in brutal fashion.
4. Edge vs Kane (2010)
At WWE SmackDown 1000 in 2010, Edge returned to TV after suffering a career-threatening neck injury that had forced him to retire two years earlier. His return took place inside Hell in a Cell though, as he took on Kane in what would be his final singles match before retiring for good due to his neck injury . This was an emotional affair for all involved , and ended with Edge getting speared through a flaming table by Kane . It wasn’t exactly how Edge would have liked to go out , but it was still an incredible moment nonetheless . 5 . CM Punk vs Ryback (2012 ) At WWE Payback 2012 , CM Punk defended his WWE Championship against Ryback inside Hell “The Best” himself .” This : literally “” In won ” squeaked out .” fact , if had not been ” Best ” interference by controversial referee Brad Maddox , Punk may not havePunk ended up being victorious , but this was still an absolutely chaotic and insane match that is well worth checking out if you haven’t seen it before
