Early life and wrestling career
Ric Flair was born on February 25, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee. He began his wrestling career in 1972 and quickly rose to prominence, winning his first professional championship in 1974. He held the title for a year before losing it to Harley Race. Over the next few years, Flair would win and lose the championship several times, cementing his reputation as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. The Four Horsemen
The Four Horsemen was a professional wrestling stable that originally consisted of Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and Ole Anderson. The Horsemen were originally envisioned as a group of rogue cowboys in the then-new NWA promotions in the Mid-Atlantic and Central States territories, an opposed to the clean cut heroic babyfaces that were the norm in pro wrestling at the time. The concept of The Four Horsemen was that they were unbeatable and had no regard for rules. They would do anything to win, including using outside interference, distracted or unconscious referees, and international object. The Horsemen gained additional members at various points – most notably Barry Windham (replacing his brother Kendall), Lex Luger (who became main event heel after Flair left WCW), and Meng (as Meng/Hulk Hogan).
