The hosts talk about the wild post-fight brawl at UFC 229 between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor’s teams.

Kajan and Shak also share thoughts on Bellator prior to Bellator 207: Ryan Bader vs Matt Mitrione and Bellator 208: Fedor Emelianenko vs Chael Sonnen.

Reflecting On UFC 229, Examining Bellator 207 & 208 | Ep. 54 — PNP Podcast

Show Notes Below:

Kajan Johnson: “Derrick Lewis, you are the pound-for-pound champion of interviews. My balls was hot.”

Shakiel Mahjouri: “Every bit of that interview was great. He tells Joe Rogan he wants to come on his podcast, smoke some weed, says he got a phone call from Donald Trump.”

Shakiel Mahjouri: “It it too soon to say the UFC 229 co-main event between Tony Ferguson and Anthony Pettis is the fight of the year?”

Kajan Johnson: “Hats off to both those men. That was so serious. The shots that Pettis was taking, how Ferguson came back off of that knocked down and got right in his face. They’re both savages.”

Shakiel Mahjouri: “Can you make a case that Conor McGregor performed better against Khabib Nurmagomedov than Al Iaquinta did? McGregor was finished, but he was the first fighter to ever win a round over Nurmagomedov.”

Kajan Johnson: “No! He got finished. Iaquinta going five rounds with Nurmagomedov on short-notice is more impressive than McGregor tapping out.”

Shakiel Mahjouri: “What do you make of Khabib jumping the fence and starting a brawl after winning at UFC 229?”

Kajan Johnson: “Justified is a very strange word. I can understand why he did what he did. Was it the right thing to do? Definitely not. If he had risen about that, it would have propelled him to a level of stardom that few fighters have ever reached. I still understand why he did what he did.”
